The deer seasons in the UK have been precisely organised to give deer protection when they need it, to produce a sustainable and healthy population. With many seasons about to close in England & Wales, the Roe Buck season opens on April 1st. How much do you know about Roe?
🦌 Roe are a medium sized deer weighing between 10-25kg when fully grown.
🦌 They’re most distinguishable in the summer when their coats are bright rusty red. In winter, their coats turn a dull, slate grey colour.
🦌 Often leave frayed areas of small trees where they rub on over-hanging branches.
🦌 One of the truly native deer of the British Isles – records date back to 6000 years BC!
